Short History of Qatar Airways
There are only a handful of airlines that make it to the best in the world category and Qatar Airways has the privilege of being one of those few. It is the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar and is headquartered in Qatar Towers, Doha. As is with most airlines in the Middle East they have humble beginnings. The same goes for Qatar Airlines, established in 1993, it started operations in 1994 with two Airbus A310s and a skeleton crew of 75. Its maiden flight was in May 1994 and since then it has expanded and never looked back. Till date it has won several awards, a total of four times, the most recent one being in 2017 for being the best airlines. This has become more or less a trend for airlines in the region. Currently, it employs 40,000 plus people. It is a member of the Oneworld alliance that it joined back in 2013, it was one of the first Gulf carriers to join up with one of the three established airline alliances.
Qatar Air Fleet and Destinations
The aircrafts owned by Qatar Air is divided into its commercial and executive fleet. The commercial sub-division has Boeings and Airbuses, including several A380s. In total 197 aircraft are deployed at the moment with more than a hundred ordered. The executive fleet consists mainly of Bombardier and Gulfstream executive class jets with a total of 11 in service and around 20 ordered.
Qatar air ways has flights to over 150 destinations across South Asia, Africa, Central Asia, Europe, the Far East, Middle East, North & South America and Australia from its hub at Hamad International Airport. It is one of the few airlines to offer services to all six inhabited continents.

Cargo:
Qr airline is the world’s third largest international cargo carrier. It has recently ordered Boeing 777Fs for its ever-expanding cargo unit and added several international cargo destinations.
Chartered Flights:
It provides charter services through its executive fleet that consist mainly of small to medium-sized executive class jets.
Executive Lounges:
Qatar air ways provides great facilities to its passengers and that includes executive lounges for its business and first-class passengers. Having been awarded several times for the best lounges, it has lounges in three international destinations including London’s Heathrow Airport, Dubai International Airport and Charles de Gaulle Airport, France. Besides that, its customers can enjoy exclusive lounge privileges wherever OneWorld Alliance members have lounges.

Like many other popular airlines, it has a loyalty card for its frequent flyers. It has agreements with several airlines and many international hotels and car rental companies in order to give its customers something extra in return for flying with them.
